The King Shepherd is a majestic, rare breed that brings to mind the large, sturdy German Shepherds of days past. They come in both long, smooth hair and short, plush coats. The King Shepherd differs from the German Shepherds of today. The differences include temperament, conformation and size. The oversized German Shepherds of both American and European lines are the main basis for the breed, with the bloodlines infused with Shilo Shepherd and/or flock guardian dogs.

The King Shepherd is quite comfortable with multi-tasking. He is capable of protection, guarding, herding, obedience, and makes a wonderful companion. He is well suited to community service, from police work to visiting nursing homes and hospitals, as well as watching over and interacting with family members, including small children and other animals. He is highly intelligent, large boned dog who turns the head of all that come in contact with him. The King Shepherd generates a great deal of interest and is a natural deterrent for those with questionable intentions.
